PAST EVENTS
Local collaborations with performing artist, Mia Pixley (cellist and singer) and Kimberly M. Olivier began at the de Young museum in 2021. Behind the scenes, the two artists felt an instant connection and delved into deep conversations of emotions, intellect, and shared experiences as Black Female artists. The music video film to Pixley's song, "Everything is Slow Motion" (watch on Dancer page), was produced by Mercury Soul (bts photos below) and filmed in several locations at the de Young. The eerie song, full of numbing complexities and striking emotional waves, reunited the artists as they performed live for audiences during the "de Young museum's Opening Day of The Obama Portraits Tour" (June 2022). Kimberly joined Mia Pixley and her band to songs "Core" and "Everything is Slow Motion" (as seen above).
